Powerful search, smart organization, and total privacy — built right into your toolbar.

Full-text search

Search page titles, URLs, and actual page content. Find that article you read last week even if you forgot the title.

Your data never leaves your device

Retraced is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here's exactly what happens with your data.

Last updated: March 29, 2026

Content script: Retraced uses a content script to capture page titles, URLs, and text snippets for local search indexing. This data is stored in IndexedDB and is never transmitted anywhere.

Permissions: The extension requests activeTab and storage permissions, plus host permissions to run the content script. These are used solely for local history indexing.

Need help?

Common questions and troubleshooting for Retraced.

No history appearing?
Retraced indexes pages as you browse after installation. It won't retroactively capture pages visited before the extension was installed. Browse a few sites and check back.
A site isn't being indexed?
Check Settings → Excluded Sites. Some sensitive domains (banking, email, etc.) are excluded by default for your privacy. You can remove them from the exclude list.
How do I clear all data?
Open the extension, go to Settings, and tap "Clear All History Data" at the bottom. This permanently removes all indexed data.
How does export work?
Retraced exports your history as a CSV file. You can either save it directly or copy the data to your clipboard and paste it into any spreadsheet app or text editor. The CSV includes page titles, URLs, domains, visit counts, and timestamps.
Extension not loading?
Go to Safari → Settings → Extensions and make sure Retraced is enabled with "Allow" permissions set for all websites.
